Hot

It's not even April yet and it's already 80 degrees here. And I don't think this is even considered summer. I think the hottest months here are June through August. *sigh*

In other news, Lowe's almost lost them an employee today. I was so very tempted to just walk out. My shift was supposed to be 7am to noon. I went out to Lawn and Garden around 11am to help them out there cuz they were getting really backed up with people and there was only one cashier out there. After the crowd died down, the other person left for lunch (unbeknownst to me) and I was left to handle things. Well, it got busy again about a half hour after she left (so much so that I had about 10 people waiting to check out) so I called the supervisor to get someone else sent out to help. Well, they didn't have anyone to spare since it was busy in there, too. Finally one of the managers came out to help, but even when the other girl came back from lunch, we still had about 15 people each to ring up. This was about 12:30 and it was about that time that I seriously considered just leaving. Not only that, but we didn't have but one person loading things for people and, when I'd try to page for a loader or more assistance at the register, my phone wouldn't connect to the P.A. system.

Someone finally came out to relieve me at about 1:30. Boy was I pissed. Not only was I not scheduled to work that late (although I understand now that they really needed me to stay a little longer), but D had come to pick me up at noon and I didn't get a chance to call him until about 1:00. I told him that he should probably just go back home since I didn't know what time I'd be leaving and he'd already been sitting in the parking lot for an hour. Technically we're not supposed to make personal calls on register phones, particularly when we're working, but I was in a serious "f*** 'em" mindset at that point.

In hindsight I'm still a little irritated, but not quite so mad about it. I mean, it happens all the time at other retail stores I'm sure and they probably didn't expect to be quite that busy or they would've had more people scheduled to work.

But, the good news is that I have three days off until I have to work again...and it's a night shift so technically that's 3 1/2 days.

Much goofing off will be had. :-) Wheeee!!!

getting old

I title this getting old because I can't believe I forgot to post about this big, large, huge event that happened.

So, the dad of one of D's old business partners (the good one) decided to sell his car. It's a '96 (I think) Olds 88. He was selling it for $400 to get rid of it, cuz it's one helluva car. V6 engine, brand new tires that cost more than what he was selling the car for, runs so freakin' smooth...you get the idea. Anyway, I didn't have the money right then to get it so, before I knew he was even gonna do it, D's dad bought the car for me with the understanding that I'd be paying him back for it. And as of now, it's more than half payed back.

Now I need to shop for insurance for my new baby. :-)

And now, a question for the masses... What company do you have your insurance through and are you satisfied with them (rates, how they handle things if you've had an accident, etc)?

short post

Today, oddly enough, feels like the first real day off I've had since I started working. Maybe it's because I felt like D and I were trying to cram all our qt into a small amount of time that it was stressing me out and making me feel like my days off were rushed. *shrugs shoulders*

Anyway, even though I have laundry and cleaning to get to today, I don't feel very stressed out...y'know, that gloom and doom of knowing you have to go to work the next day?

I think he's going out in the field sometime today, but I'm thinkin' I'm gonna stay back here this time. I mean, the whole reason my "Miss Susie Homemaker" attempt kinda fell by the way side was a lot due to me going out on projects with him everyday and being just way too tired and wanting to relax instead of tackle the housework.... How do you people do it; who have a full time job plus time to get house stuff done?

On another note, D is being so incredibly sweet to me. For my birthday, did I mention he got me flowers? He got me a dozen carnations (pink, red, and purple) intermingled with baby's breath and some other little flower that I have no idea what it is. And, something I consider just as sweet...last night, after picking me up from work he asked me the most wonderful question.

Wait for it....

Wait for it....

Wait for it........

He said, "Baby, do you feel like you might want a beer?" *grins*

So we got a six-pack on the way home, played Warcraft a little while unwinding and sipping on Mich. Light, then lounging on the bed in front of the tv until exhaustion overtook. Man, oh man...ain't he the greatest? :-)

stuffs

So obviously, maybe not so obviously to others, the zoo ended up not happening. I think weekend before last we ended up working on Saturday and then it rained on Sunday. Then, this past weekend I wasn't feeling too well and we didn't find out until Sunday afternoon that they're only open for a couple hours on Sundays so we went for a walk in the woods instead.

Add to all that me working pretty much during the time the zoo is open and you get postponement after postponement. No big, though.

Hmmm...what else? Nothing really of note I guess. I feel like I'm working all the time now. Since I was feeling puny and not able to work this past weekend, I don't get a day off until this Sunday. But, I'll also get Monday off and then Thursday, too. So I guess it all evens out in the end.

My 23rd birthday is in three days. :-) Yay for me. I think my mom is sending me a present since she called and emailed me last night about getting my new address again so she could send me a couple things (one I know is a Christmas present that's been on backorder forever).

Well, guess that's it for now. Think I'll go take a Vivarin so I can wake up a little more before I have to be all cheerful and customer servicy. *grins*

Peace Out
