Home project

D and I got the go-ahead yesterday from Poppy (D's dad) to renovate the downstairs portion of the guest building we're living in. :-D

It's gonna involve totally re-doing the ceiling, tiling the floor, painting the walls, fixing a leak from the shower upstairs, putting in a new sink/vanity in the bathroom, and insulating a portion of the wall. The ceiling mainly needs to be done because the last couple times it was drywalled and there was flooding from the shower and pipes upstairs that completely collapsed the ceiling. So, we're gonna do things differently and put a drop ceiling in.

The walls are just drywall and spackle right now so we'll be sanding spots and painting it. I'm thinking blue-ish gray with dark blue sponged/smudged over it. I'll have to repaint it white when D and I move, but no big.

D's got a friend who has a business renovating houses so he's gonna try and get him over here to give us an idea of how much work we have ahead of us.

But, we did get a new vanity/ sink combo yesterday at Lowe's for $80. It was normally about $250 so even without being able to use my discount it's a good deal. It was kinda funny how that happened. We'd gone in there and I asked one of the guys why it had been put on clearance. It's the Lowe's I work at so I'm friends with the guy. It was originally marked down to like $190 or something. M, the guy I work with, said that it was probably discontinued so they were just trying to get rid of it. He took a look at it and said, "Well, let me make this a little cheaper." He whipped out his Sharpie and said, "There, how's that?" He'd marked it down to the $80. How cool is that? :-)

Anyway, so that's the skinny. Today, involving the downstairs, has been mostly measuring stuff and playing around with the placement on AutoCAD. I'm liking the set-up and we'll even have space to set up our Christmas tree. :-)

Oh, we also priced tile and we figure we can get the whole space tiled for about $250 and my employee discount will pretty much take care of the sales tax on all that.

I'm so excited! *squeals with glee* hehe

Sharon Stone was on Burn Notice last night.

This has been another...useless fact.
